In 2006 José Dávila, confronted Lebrija on a squash court for a 10-minute-17-second video installation that borrows its title from a chapter in Jean Baudrillard’s “Symbolic Exchange and Death” of 1976. In ‘The Hyperrealism of Simulation’, which our squash opponents decided to broadcast in the original French, Baudrillard defines hyperrealism as a reality reinforced by the destruction of the real itself.
