La Nuit Étoilée
2007
Installation view
The piece entitled “La Nuit Etoilèe” is a clear example of the artist’s modus operandi. The eleven seconds in which the office of the powerful president of PanAm appeared on screen in Martin Scorsese’s film The Aviator (2004) were sufficient to impress on Lebrija’s retina the large mural covering the ceiling and part of the walls of that space. Art Deco, that quintessential blend of drama and frivolity, in this case appropriates the sublime tradition of the medieval vault of the sky.
